Parliamentary Event: What is Quality RSE?

15 November 2017

We organised a very successful and well-attended event at the House of Commons to enable Parliamentarians, including the Secretary of State for Education, to hear from young people about what they want to see from statutory RSE.    The event was hosted by Sarah Champion MP and Maria Miller MP and was attended by Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, as Secretary of State for Education and Ian Bauckham, Headteacher Advisor on RSE to the Government.

Young people working with a range of our partners set out the details of what good RSE means to them. The event was co-Chaired by young people.  and we heard from a number of young people just how important good RSE is for them.  Those attending were able to ask questions directly to Justine Greening, who gave us her assurance that 'never again will RSE guidance be left for 17 years', and that the views of young people were of paramount importance.

We launched our Principles of good RSE on this day, and were delighted that Maria Miller MP and Sarah Champion MP were the first to sign to give their commitment to these principles.
